An experienced home builder, Richard Schwartz was previously active in the Charlotte, NC, real estate market during his tenure as president of Calloway Homes. Since his work in Charlotte, NC, Richard Schwartz has overseen building operations across Hilton Head Island and Bluffton, South Carolina, as president and chief operating officer at Village Park Homes.
Within the last year, the housing market in Bluffton has experienced a dramatic increase. On the back of the growing economy, contractors in the town have sought more building permits to create hundreds of new homes. According to local data, the number of permits rose from about 400 in 2013 to more than 550 in the following year. At the end of 2015, the Bluffton market still shows no signs of slowing down.
Richard Schwartz recently appeared on WSAV News 3 to share his company's experiences in the emerging market. Since 2013, Village Park Homes has increased its home production from two communities to a dozen, planning to build even more in the coming years. With a high influx of new homebuyers, local companies are struggling to build enough homes to accommodate the ever-increasing demand. At the same time, Schwartz says that this trend is creating more jobs for local workers. Each home Village Park Homes builds requires up to 50 workers, and he projects that the number of projects will only increase.
